The tractor unit was purchased June 2009. Once back in our workshops, modifications included the fitting of the following-

a) Audio system
b) Beacon bar
c) Rear towing bracket
d) Two chassis side lockers
e) Straight bar and mountings
f) 12 volt power point in cab
g) New mirrors
h) New front panel

Mechanical works consisted of fitting a new radiator, water pump and servicing including checking and adjusting brakes, etc. The King Low Loader was purchased from Virginia Water and trailed home behind the ERF by Kiran Tolson. Work on the trailer including mounting and fitting new marker lamps and a new electric 10 ton winch.

Time Line

09.06 – Down to S.Wales to view tractor unit
16.06 – Down to Aberdare, on train via Manchester & Cardiff to collect unit
17.06 – Fit two new rear wings, change engine oil and filter, clear and polish cab
06-07 – Remove intercooler and radiator
11.07 – Fit new cab jack
20.07 – Fit new radiator and intermediate hose
13.08 – Down to Cummins for engine down load &  service
30.09 – Collect King Low Loader from Virginia Water
01.10 – Park trailer in Tong
05.10 – Fit light bar to roof, paint wheels
09.10 – Obtain and fit new front panel
18.11 – Buy winch for Low Loader
22.12 – Buy side tool boxs for tractor unit

04.01 – Fit new electric winch to trailer
11.01 – Fit side mounted locker to near side of chassis
13.01 – Wire up winch
19.01 – Fit tow bar brackets to chassis rails
13.02 – Make cover for winch, fit second locker
10.03 – Jespro make up towing bracket for tractor unit
18.05 – Take trailer for MOT test
05.07 – Remove fuel tank straps, repair tank, repaint and refit straps
23.08 – Take for emission test
13.01 – Down to Croft to cure whine on engine, fit new intercooler hose and clip
29.01 – Sold to gentleman from Essex, loads his Discovery on to trailer, pays cash and goes
